The student association Vélin, consisting of mechanical, industrial, and chemical engineering students at the University of Iceland, recently visited Tæknisetur. During the visit, students gained insight into the latest technologies and research conducted by startup companies operating at Taeknisetur, as well as an introduction to its overall activities.
During the visit, students explored facilities for 3D printing in metal and plastic.
Afterwards, the electrolysis research laboratory was visited. There, students had the opportunity to examine inert electrodes and learn about research related to carbon-free aluminium electrolysis. Experts from Tæknisetur and Jón Hjaltalín Magnússon, founder of Arctus Aluminium, introduced the process and answered students’ questions.
Students also attended presentations from startup companies, where ideas, product development, and experiences were discussed. The startup companies, Total Tempo and Uru Zone, were among those presenting prototypes of their products.
Finally, students had the opportunity to speak directly with entrepreneurs and researchers.
Tæknisetur thanks Vélin for an enjoyable visit and hopes it provided valuable insight into the connection between academia, industry, and innovation.
